Overview

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, a play by American playwright Tennessee Williams, was first performed in 1955 and won that year’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play is set in the Mississippi Delta and centers around the Pollitt family, particularly the relationships between Brick, an alcoholic former football player; his wife, Maggie; and his father, Big Daddy. The play explores themes of dishonesty, sexual desire, and the struggle for power and control. It was adapted into a 1958 film starring Paul Newman, Elizabeth Taylor, and Burl Ives.
