Bible: The New Testament
Important Quotations Explained
1. But
to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting
in the marketplaces and calling to one another, “We played the flute
for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.”
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has
a demon,” the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,
“Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and
sinners!” Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds. (Matthew 11:16–19)
2. In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into
being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.
What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light
of all people. The light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness
did not overcome it. (John 1:1–5)
3. For
in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many
of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with
Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave
or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one
in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26–28)
4. A
sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell on the
path, and was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. Some
fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered for lack of moisture.
Some fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked
it. Some fell into good soil and grew, and when it grew it produced
a hundredfold. (Luke 8:5–8)
5. Now
before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had
come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved
his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. [He] got
up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around
himself. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the
disciples’ feet . . . . After he had washed their feet, had put
on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, “ .
. . I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have
done to you. Very truly I tell you, servants are not greater than
their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them.
If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.” (John 13:1, 4–5, 12–17)

0Three wise men?
by adamscameron32, May 07, 2013
the bible does not have a specific number of wise men, it is just assumed that there were 3. There could have been 2 and there could have been much more.
