Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834) was a renowned English poet, critic, and philosopher, best known for his lyrical and imaginative works. Alongside William Wordsworth, he played a pivotal role in the Romantic movement. Coleridge’s most famous poems include “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and “Kubla Khan.” He also collaborated with Wordsworth on the poetry collection Lyrical Ballads. Coleridge’s prose work, especially Biographia Literaria, had a significant impact on literary theory. His contributions to poetry and philosophy, marked by vivid imagery and exploration of the supernatural, have solidified his place as a central figure in English Romantic literature.
