Overview

“Babylon Revisited” is a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, first published in 1931. The story is set in the early 1930s and follows Charlie Wales, a former stockbroker from Chicago who is visiting Paris. Charlie has returned to the city to try to regain custody of his daughter, Honoria, who has been living with her aunt and uncle since the death of Charlie’s wife, Helen. The story is often interpreted as a fictionalized account of the author’s own struggles with alcoholism and his relationship with his daughter, Scottie.
