Setting (Place and Time): Mid-21st century, primarily set on Earth, in outer space, and on fictional distant planets near a massive black hole named Gargantua.

Foreshadowing: Early in the film, gravitational anomalies and Murph’s "ghost" communicating through her bookshelf foreshadow the importance of gravity as a force, the way love can defy the laws of physics, and Cooper's eventual role in sending messages across time.

Major Conflict: Cooper and his Endurance crew embark on a death-defying space mission through a wormhole. They hope to find a habitable planet for humanity, as Earth is facing a massive environmental collapse.

Rising Action: Cooper and his crew face a seemingly endless list of challenges and disasters on their journey. These include severe time dilation effects near the black hole Gargantua, several traumatic deaths of crew members on inhospitable planets, and the shocking reveal of the cowardly Dr. Mann’s deception.

Climax: Cooper sacrifices himself by detaching from the spacecraft, falling into Gargantua, and discovering the tesseract. He uses it to communicate vital gravitational data to his daughter, Murph, back on Earth.

Falling Action: Murph successfully decodes Cooper’s message, enabling her to solve the gravitational equation needed to evacuate Earth. Cooper, who miraculously survives his passage through the black hole, reunites briefly with an elderly Murph on Cooper Station. He then sets out to find Amelia Brand, who’s in the process of establishing a human colony on Edmunds' planet.
