Jason Reynolds

Jason Reynolds (b. 1983) is the award-winning poet and author of more than 19 books for young adults. In addition to the best-selling Track series (four books), some highlights from his storied career include All American Boys (2015, co-written with Brendan Kiely), As Brave as You (2016), Long Way Down (2017), Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2017), and Look Both Ways (2021). In 2022, he released a podcast, My Mother Made Me, in which he and his mother discuss his childhood and the meaning of life. Although he has become famous as a novelist, Reynolds is also an accomplished poet and credits rap music with starting him on the path to becoming a writer.

Ibram X. Kendi

Dr. Ibram X. Kendi (b. 1982) is the author of 16 books for both children and adults, as well as many articles and other media projects. In addition to the National Book Award-winning Stamped from the Beginning: A Definitive History of American Racism, he has authored How to Be an Antiracist (2018) and edited, with Keisha N. Blain, Four Hundred Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619–2019 (2021). He earned his Ph.D. from Temple University and is now the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Humanities at Boston University, where he also directs the university’s Center for Antiracist Research. He has won a MacArthur Award, a Guggenheim Grant, and a National Book Award.
