Overview

Bel Canto is a novel by American author Ann Patchett that was published in 2001. It is a work of historical fiction that tells the story of a group of terrorists who take over a party at the home of the vice president of an unnamed South American country. The novel explores themes of love, music, and the power of art to transcend boundaries. In 2002, Bel Canto won the PEN/Faulkner Award and, in the UK, the Women's Prize for Fiction.
