Where Doon’s father and Clary use words to bring calm and convey wisdom to Doon and Lina, Mrs. Murdo shows that she cares through her actions and the environment that she creates for Lina and Poppy. She knows intuitively what their needs are and how best to address them, and never complains about doing so. Her devotion to the girls is matter-of-fact, and she provides Lina with a soft place to land when her seemingly endless energy runs low.
