To discover more about Rhysand, read about his role in A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Though Rhysand has lived for several centuries and has experienced many wars, his close encounter with death at the conclusion of the war with Hybern helps him to better appreciate the many blessings in his life. Now that peace has come to Prythian, he dedicates himself to building a life with Feyre, purchasing an entire estate by the river in Velaris and instructing the builders to construct it according to Feyre’s needs and desires. He is overjoyed by her decision to have a child and eagerly anticipates the future.

Still, Rhysand finds that his duties as High Lord regularly take him away from home and from Feyre, underscoring the responsibilities that come with his role as monarch. When he hears from Eris that Tamlin has left the border to the human realm undefended, he travels to the Spring Court and confronts Tamlin, whom he hates. During their first meeting, he allows his strong feelings of anger and resentment to get the better of him. Instead of negotiating with Tamlin, he shouts at him in fury, making no progress.

Even for Rhysand, who has centuries worth of experience as a leader, personal feelings can be difficult to disentangle from political concerns. Later, however, he returns to the Spring Court and finds himself in the uncomfortable position of having to take care of an individual he detests. Ultimately, Rhysand knows that the safety and security of many depend upon him, and he pushes aside his hatred in order to ensure that Tamlin is in a fit state to uphold his own responsibilities in the Spring Court.
