I know God stopped me from going to the grave. It feels like this life is a second life. People prayed to God to spare me, and I was spared for a reason—to use my life for helping people.

In Chapter 24, with most of her recovery behind her, Malala reflects on what meaning she can find in her experience. While she often faced mortality while living in Swat, her time in the hospital brought death closer than ever before, and yet she survived. Because of her faith, Malala believes that God allowed her to survive so she can continue to help people. Grateful that the prayers of millions of strangers saved her life, Malala will honor the miracle of her survival by dedicating her life to helping others.
