Lady Chatterleys Lover is a novel by D.H. Lawrence that was first published in 1928. It tells the story of a deeply unhappy woman married to a distant and impotent man who finds release in an affair (described by Lawrence in vivid detail) with the gameskeeper of the family estate. Lady Chatterley’s Lover was banned in England and the United States after its publication with the unexpurgated edition not appearing in America until 1959, after a lengthy legal battle.
