Overview
The Canterbury Tales is a complex and multi-themed text. Students will use this worksheet to identify three of the text’s major themes and support their findings with evidence from the text. They will then summarize the “take” on the theme, or the message the author is trying to impart. Encourage students to track themes as they develop across individual prologues and tales. Looking for commonalities across the tales helps students appreciate the richness of this text and understand how seemingly different parts of a text can work together to build a cohesive whole.
