9 Classics Reimagined as Modern YA Novels

Start the slide show

You may have noticed that 90% of all books are YA novels. (This is definitely a real statistic, probably. I mean, it feels right.) That’s because young adults are a powerful demographic. How powerful, you may ask? Well, I’m pretty sure they’re on track to rule the world by 2020, and judging by all the Vine compilations I’ve seen, they fear neither pain nor death.

So what we’re dealing with is a compelling (and lucrative) genre. And if the following classics were to be published nowadays, I have no doubt they would have been pitched as YA. Without further ado, here are some classics reimagined as the YA novels they were always meant to be.

NOTE: If this list inspires you to write any of these books as classic retellings, make sure to give credit where credit is due. (I want 10% of all profits. Or at least take me out to a really nice lunch.)
