Give Us Your Assigned Summer Reading List and We’ll Tell You What Book You Should Read for Fun

Whoops! Looks like, once again, I went to bed in May and when I woke up it was almost August. Where did the time go? What have I been doing for two months? Does anyone know? Can you tell me?

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s coming to grips with the linear progression of time. If there’s another thing I hate, it’s realizing I haven’t done ONE SINGLE BIT of the summer reading. In June, the idea of starting it was laughable. In early July, there was still plenty of time. But now that we’re staring August right in the face, it feels like time is running out and also death is near.

So whether you’re staving off the existential dread of summer reading OR you’ve already finished it, here are some book recommendations that will go hand-in-hand with whatever your teacher is making you write an essay about.

(And if you haven’t even bought the book yet, you might not have to! We now have whole texts like Pride and Prejudice, The Odyssey, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre available right here on our site! But anyway.)
