Hilarious One-Star Reviews of Classic Novels
One-star reviews online are a thing of beauty. Some of them are earnest, most of them make no sense, and all of them are the funniest thing I have ever read, bar none. Sometimes you get “IT’S GREAT, SHIPPING WAS FAST, PRODUCT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, ONE STAR” reviews; other times you get the “MY WIFE LEFT ME BECAUSE OF THIS PURCHASE, MY HOUSE BURNED DOWN, MY CROPS WERE BESIEGED BY PLAGUE, AND I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD” ones.
I compiled this slideshow not to encourage people to hate on classic novels, because generally speaking I like most classic novels. However, nothing gives me more pleasure than searching for things I like on Amazon and then trawling through the one-star reviews looking for something that gives me a chuckle. People who leave positive reviews? Normal. Innocuous. Just here to have a good time. People who leave negative reviews, on the other hand, are UNHAPPY and they WANT YOU TO KNOW WHY.
