The Best and Worst Fairy-Tale Films

When you grow up watching the animated Disney delights of The Lion King, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin, you’re bound to develop a certain obsession fondness for fairy tales. While the imagination and wonder of far-reaching and ever-expanding fantasy and science fiction universes are also exciting to see come alive in film, there’s nothing quite like the enchanting, magical, and classic stories we grew up with—brought to life in live-action movies. Luckily, Hollywood seems eager to keep re-making, re-adapting, and re-casting all of our favorite fairy tales FOR ALL OF TIME. We are waiting on pins and needles to see if Emma Watson will be exactly the Belle we’ve always wanted (and how on earth that amazing cast will play inanimate objects.) We’re endlessly curious if Chloe Grace Moretz can pull off the red hair that’s necessary to be the star of The Little Mermaid. And, even sooner, we CANNOT WAIT to watch Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain, and Chris Hemsworth SLAY in The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Only time will tell if these attempts to breath new life into these storybook gems will see them join the ranks of the best or worst fairy-tale films.
