Overview

Authors carefully choose and describe a story’s settings as each informs the story and its themes, reveals truths about events or characters, and creates the intended tone or mood of the work. Students will use this worksheet to explore this idea. Have students record the words the author uses to describe each place and then analyze what that description reveals about the story.
