Overview
Readers can learn much about a text’s major themes by examining character development. Students will use this worksheet to understand a major theme of Lord of the Flies: crossing boundaries and escalating savagery. Students will be asked to trace three examples of a specific character or situation becoming increasingly violent.
You can use this worksheet while reading or after completing the novel. The work can be done as a class, in pairs, or in small groups.
Invite students to discuss their responses as a class or in small groups.
