Overview

Dialogue is more than just spoken words. Dialogue reveals truths about characters and their relationships and plays a vital role in most stories. Students will use this worksheet to learn about the purpose and features of dialogue and understand more about the relationship of two of the novel’s main characters, Ralph and Jack.

Students will then practice using dialogue in their own piece of creative writing. Consider inviting students to share their dialogues in small groups or pairs. Invite listening students to analyze what the dialogue reveals about the characters and/or their relationships.
