Overview

The theme of the impossibility of the American Dream is found throughout the novella Of Mice and Men. Students will use this worksheet after they finish reading the text to first explore their own dreams by completing a graphic organizer and then to make connections to this theme in the story by examining several characters’ impossible dreams. For the prompts at the end of each part of the worksheet, you can have students respond in small groups, as a whole-class discussion, or individually in writing.
