Overview

Authors use symbolism to reveal deeper meanings about characters, events, and ideas in a text. Students will use this worksheet to make symbolic connections in Of Mice and Men as they go on a symbols scavenger hunt throughout the text, using the page references provided. Pass out this worksheet after students have finished reading the novella. This activity can be done individually, in pairs or small groups, and/or as a whole class. After students complete the scavenger hunt, they will respond to follow-up questions orally or in a written response.
