Overview
Authors use sensory language to bring a story and its action and characters to life, to help readers see, taste, feel, smell, and hear the story as if they are in the story themselves. Sensory language also helps less-advanced readers become more connected with a text and can be a useful tool for helping such students engage with complex works. Students will use this worksheet to examine sensory language used in Of Mice and Men, using context clues to determine each term’s meaning and then exploring how the language aids their comprehension. Consider passing out the worksheet before students begin reading to improve reading comprehension.
