Director: George Roy Hill

This film adaptation was a critical success and won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, but flopped at the box office. The film was praised for closely following Vonnegut’s novel, even using much of the same dialogue. However, critics felt the film was best understood by those who had read the novel, leaving a significant portion of movie-goers unable to follow the plot.
