Overview

Beatrice is one of Shakespeare’s most famous female characters, and her sparring matches with Benedick create some of his most lively dialogue. Beatrice reveals much of her character and personality through her words. Students will use this worksheet to summarize passages that provide a better understanding of Beatrice and make notes on what her words reveal about her character. Then students will discuss Beatrice’s modernity in small groups. Pass out this worksheet after students have finished reading the play.
