Seeing how traditional gender roles affected marriages during Shakespeare’s time will help students better understand the characters and their motivations and actions in The Taming of the Shrew. Students will use this worksheet to explore three marriages from the play and how each character feels about his or her marriage. Pass out the worksheet when students have finished reading the play.
