“I wonder if [Margo] created this journey for us on purpose or by accident—regardless, it’s the most fun I’ve had since the last time I spent hours behind the wheel of a minivan.”

This quotation appears in Part Three, Hour One of the road trip that Quentin, Lacey, Ben, and Radar take to find Margo in Agloe. Quentin still structures his whole life around his obsession with Margo. In his head, she is the source of all his urges and actions. Margo provides the impetus to take this wild road trip, and she is the magnet that has both brought his friends together and is pulling them toward her. However, what might be dawning on Quentin slowly but surely is that Margo actually doesn’t orchestrate all aspects of his life: rather, Quentin himself is at the helm. Quentin enjoys both of the road trips he takes tremendously, not simply because Margo is involved, but because he is having an adventure with his friends that takes him outside of his own head and gives him the opportunity to have new, exciting experiences in the world.
