Overview

Allegory in fiction helps make literature more approachable for all readers. While George Orwell’s use of allegory in Animal Farm brings the story of the Russian Revolution and the rise of the Communist Party to life, it also relates the experiences of archetypal characters that all readers can relate to. Students will use this worksheet to explore the use of allegory in the novel. Take a moment to discuss with students the definition of allegory before students begin work.
