Overview
Terms from Shakespeare’s time are often unfamiliar today. Gaining a better understanding of such terms deepens a reader’s understanding of a Shakespearean play. Students will use this worksheet to examine some of the archaic terms used in Julius Caesar to help them understand the text and identify the positions and roles of various characters in the play. Pass out this worksheet before students begin reading the play, and have students complete the worksheet as they read through Act 1, as many of the roles and titles of the characters are described within the opening scenes.
